STREAMIX Server
It only streams, sending every device the original file
STREAMIX Server organizes your media library and manages accounts and permissions. For playback it only sends the original file, on demand. It never transcodes or repackages, so the client restores the full picture and sound on your device.
Design choice
Why it only streams
Nothing is lost
No transcoding means no second compression. The bitrate, HDR and audio tracks you get are exactly those of the source.
A lighter server
Transcoding is what eats CPU and GPU. A server that only streams spends its power on your library and needs less hardware.
Predictable results
The device decides whether and how a file plays, and the app says so. The server never quietly downgrades it.
Features
What it does
Cloud sync
Google Drive is the main file source. Server follows the file tree and incremental changes, so the library stays in step with your drive.
Libraries and versions
Separate movie and TV libraries, built from folders, rules or by hand, with several versions of the same title.
Metadata
Metadata from TMDB and other sources, plus optional technical details read from the files: resolution, HDR and audio tracks at a glance.
Accounts and permissions
Accounts, roles and policies control who sees which library, along with sessions and traffic.
Web admin
Manage libraries, scheduled tasks and the status of every component from your browser.
Extensions
Separate service extensions are installed from a manifest and enabled after their own approval; Emby user data can be imported.
Client compatibility
Compatible with part of the Emby client API, so existing Emby clients can connect; STREAMIX Player has its own dedicated protocol.
Self-hosted
A Rust server with PostgreSQL and Redis that runs on your own machine, so your data stays with you.
